Raining Cats & Kittens
It’s Raining Cats and Kittens!

                                                                                              12232008_94334_0.jpg

Some of you may have noticed that there are a lot more stray cats in your area than usual. There has been an on going issue with people letting there un-neutered and un-spayed cats outside.

There has been another issue of people giving away free kittens. When you bring kittens into this world you are taking homes away from all the cats and kittens waiting for homes at animal shelters. Many of the “free kittens” end up on the street having their own litters or at the cat shelter a short time later when they are no longer considered “cute”.

There have been more cats brought to the local shelter form Buxton this year than any other year. This problem is not only costing the town money, it is costing the state and shelters money to spay, neuter and vaccinate all of these unwanted, uncared for animals.

DID YOU KNOW?
One female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 kittens in seven years.
17,000 cats are killed every day in the U.S. due to a lack of homes.
For every one person born in the U.S., 45 kittens are born.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Spay and neuter your pets.
If you find or know of a stray animal, call animal control.
Do not let any un-fixed cat outdoors.

                                                                        Thank you for your cooperation
