All dogs that live in the State of Maine must be licensed after 10 days of ownership or after the age of 6 months. Dog licenses must be renewed by January 31st of each year. Licenses are normally available on October 1st for the next calendar year. To license your dog you will need a valid Maine rabies certificate and neutering/spaying certificate, if appropriate. If you are a resident of the Town of Buxton you can obtain a dog license at the Town Hall or online at www.doglicensing.com. Neutered dog licenses are $6 and non-neutered dog licenses are $11 each when obtained at the Town Hall. There is an additional fee of $1 if licensed online. Online dog license renewals can only be done from October 1st to January 31st. Dog license renewals after January 31st will be charged a $25 late fee and can only be done at the Town Hall. All dogs must wear their license tag at all times. The wearing of the license tag will help to ensure that your dog will be returned if lost.
