Tax Information
Taxes are committed once a year to property owners of record as of April 1. Any property changes made after April 1 would not reflect in the tax record until the following fiscal year. It is the obligation of the current owner to forward the tax bill to the new owner. The Assessor is not responsible for the pro-ration of taxes between the buyer and seller.

The Town of Buxton’s fiscal year is July 1 – June 30. Tax bills are sent out once a year in September. Payments are due October 20 and April 20.

Municipal real estate tax liens are recorded at the York County Registry of Deeds in August for unpaid taxes. Partial payments do not waive a tax lien. If the tax lien is not paid 18 months from the lien date, automatic foreclosure occurs.

The current tax rate is $12.70 per thousand assessed at 100% of market value.
