What is the proper shelter for my dog when he is outside?

Sufficient shade must be available when heat can cause the animal to over-heat.  Shelters should consist of a four (4) sided structure with a roof made of waterproof and windproof material.   The R factor should be .9 (example .9=3/4”) thicknesses (wood).  There shall be a portal entry of sufficient size to allow the dog unimpeded passage. The portal shall include a baffled or appropriate sheltered entrance.   The opening should face south or the direction away from which the most wind driven precipitation comes.  The floor shall be solid and 3 inches above the ground level with clean and sufficient bedding material to retain the animal’s normal body heat.
