The State of Maine requires all dogs 6 months and older or at a residence 10 days or longer to be licensed. Licensing ensures that each dog has a record of rabies vaccination.

When: Each dog must be licensed by January 1st of each year and all dog licenses expire on December 31st each year.

Where: You may license your dog at the Town Office beginning October 15th of each calendar year or renew online here.

How: In order to obtain a license for your dog, the owner must present a current rabies certificate obtained from a licensed veterinarian.  To receive the discounted licensing fee, you will also need to bring in written proof from your veterinarian that your dog is spayed or neutered.  A discounted fee for that particular dog will be given thereafter.

Cost:
$6.00 per year if spayed or neutered
$11.00 per year if not spayed or neutered

There will be a late fee of $25.00 charged for any dog licensed after January 31st   Failure to license your dog is considered a civil violation and you will be subject to a court summons and fine of up to $100.
