Registering to Vote in the State of Maine


  • Picture ID, preferably a Maine Drivers License or State of Maine Identification Card.
  • Proof of Residency:  If your driver’s license or Picture ID does not have your residence address, you may bring a copy of a tax or utility bill, rent receipt, or vehicle registration.

You may register to vote at the Buxton Town Office during regular office hours, at the Registrar of Voters desk, or in her absence with the Town Clerk , Deputy Town Clerks, or Deputy Registrars.

The State of Maine invites people to Register to Vote at all Motor Vehicle Registration Offices also.  

You may Register at a Voter Registration Drive, or by a Mail in Registration.  If you choose to Register to Vote by Mail, you must submit a copy of your State of Maine Drivers License, a State ID card, or a copy of your Social Security Card.  The copies of the documents will be destroyed after the registrar views them.

The State of Maine also allows and encourages Registration on Election Day.

Office Hours
The Town Office hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday,Thursday, Friday, and from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm on Wednesday.

As Registrar, we process Change of Name and Address, Party Enrollments, and Withdrawal of, or Change of Enrollments.  We also certify all Petitions and Nomination Papers.
